Description of the services
The SCIANCE Website (hereinafter referred to as: “the service” or “Website”) publishes information about the activities of the SCIANCE project. The Website provides forms allowing visitors to share content on social media, subscribe to the newsletter, and contact the project partners.

This privacy notice describes how the website host, the EGI Foundation (hereinafter referred to as “we” or “the Data Controller”), collects and processes data by which you can be personally identified (“Personal Data”) when you use the service.

Purpose of the processing of personal data
The purpose of the collection, processing and use of the personal data mentioned above is:

  • Developing, testing, implementing and maintaining the website;
  • Providing technical support and software updates;
  • Analysing website usage to improve the user experience;
  • Ensuring the security, availability and integrity of the website and its supporting systems.

Legal basis
The legal basis for processing personal data is: Legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party according to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

Data Processors and third parties to whom personal data is disclosed
Personal data will only be processed for the purposes described in this privacy notice and will not be used for incompatible purposes. Where necessary to provide the website, respond to enquiries, deliver requested services, fulfil legal obligations, or pursue the legitimate interests described in this privacy notice, personal data may be shared with third parties. In particular, personal data will not be used for marketing purposes unless you have explicitly consented to such processing.

For the purposes described in this privacy notice, personal data may be shared with the following recipients:

Within the EU / EEA:

  • Antenna BV (service provider, data processor for website development, maintenance and technical support)
  • Combell (service provider, sub-processor of Antenna for website hosting)
  • UpTimeRobot (service provider, sub-processor of Antenna for website availability monitoring)
  • MailerLite (service provider, data processor for newsletter management)
  • European Commission (recipient where required for reporting and contractual obligations under the Horizon Europe Grant Agreement)
  • Project consortium partners (where necessary for project management, coordination and the execution of project activities)

The records of your use of the website and technical log files generated by its components may be shared, where necessary, with authorised participants in academic and research distributed digital infrastructures for the purposes of security incident response. Such information is shared only through secure mechanisms, only for the purposes of investigating suspected misuse of infrastructure resources, and only to the extent necessary to support the investigation.

Outside the EU / EEA:

  • None.

Any transfer of personal data to a third country outside the EU or the EEA will only take place in accordance with Chapter V of the GDPR and the provisions of this privacy notice.

Your rights

  • Information about your data stored with us and their processing
  • Correction of incorrect personal data
  • Deletion of your data stored by us
  • Restriction of data processing, if we are not yet allowed to delete your data due to legal obligations

You can complain at any time to the supervisory data protection authority (DPA) responsible for you. The responsible DPA depends on your country and state of residence, of your workplace or of the presumed violation. Data retention and deletion
The records of your use and technical log files produced by the service components will be deleted or anonymised after, at most, 18 months.

Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure data security and the protection against accidental or unlawful destruction, accidental loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure or access.
